Title: Salomon Sense Ride 3 Review (Three Final Thoughts and 450 Miles Later)
This article is a followup to my initial review on the Salomon Sense Ride 3 published on Youtube a few months ago. That link is here. I have a three final thoughts about the shoe.
Some background: over the last year, I’ve lost 55 points, and trail running has been a big part of that journey. And the Sense Ride 3 has been along for a good part of that ride. To date: I’ve run, hiked, and walked 450 miles in the Sense Ride 3. It’s a darn fine trail shoe (affiliate link).
Point 1: It’s Durable
With the 450 miles mentioned, this shoe has held up. Usually my running shoes make It to 300 miles or so and and I have blow outs on the side and excessive wear inside the heal.
While it’s clear I’ve been using shoe, it’s not breaking down in the ways I usually see. Which makes the price I paid for it to be especially worthwhile at $90 US dollars. I’m hoping to get another 100 miles out of these shoes before needing to move on, but I also know that my feet have been feeling MORE of my runs of late so perhaps that mid sole is is wearing down a bit from compression. Perhaps the Sense Ride 4 is in my future.
Point 2: The “Sensi-fit” FIT (and the Gusseted Tongue) Just Works
I like the fit of this shoe, no question. It feels custom, with the way the gusseted tongue never slides from side to side once the laces are locked down. The design generally eliminates the idea of having to adjust mid-run, and I always feel pretty well dialed out on a run. The lacing system took some time to get used to, and I’ve come to appreciate the lace pocket at the top of the tongue.
Point 3: There is one Drawback
Now, back to the lacing system. The only issue I have with it now is if my shoe gets soaking wet, which doesn’t happen all that often. Summer thunderstorms, yes. But most often I’ve encountered this issue while running this winter in slushy and sloppy conditions where my shoes are soaked within a few minutes. So I’ll need to stop and readjust as needed, which tends to be every 15 or so minutes. It’s a minor complaint. But most days, I lock the laces down and I’m off. Grab and go.
END
So these are my final thoughts on the Salomon Sense Ride 3. It’s been a good shoe for me, and totally worth the $90 I spent months back. If you find it in 2021, grab a pair. Thanks for reading.
